Your Great Granddaddy’s Whiskey/Soda

I’m always trying to put my pre-med education to good use when I create cocktails, but today I’m bringing back something from the 1700’s.  Milkwashing was a way of filtering spirits with milk and lemon to make the spirit more palatable to drink.  Our process of making spirits these days has gotten much better, but you have to imagine over 200 years ago the liquor was much harsher.

You can wash any spirit and it can make for a very unique cocktail experience.  Many people understand that a very nice, high quality spirit should be sipped with minimal additives to savor the quality.  But often people are deterred because of the harshness or burn as it goes down.  Milkwashing will give you the best of both worlds. You get an opportunity to taste the spirit without it burning.  I hope you will come in and give this centuries old tradition a try.
